Job Title:                Joy Ranch Camp Developer/Camp Director

Starting Date:         August 1, 2008
 

Job Summary:
The Camp Developer is responsible to prepare to open Joy Ranch, a new Lutherans Outdoors site located near Watertown, South Dakota.  Once Joy Ranch opens, the Camp Director is responsible for developing and delivering quality programs at that site.  This position is also responsible to ensure all programs model Christian theology consistent with that of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

Required Skills, & Qualifications:

• Exudes energy; a “people person”
• Excellent speaking skills; presents a positive public image.
• Excellent writing and problem solving skills
• Effective interpersonal skills – effective team leader, works well as part of a team, works well with staff and volunteers, good listening skills with constituents and staff.
• Good driving record, insurable by agency insurance company
• Ability to travel on a regular basis, including overnight travel
• Bachelor’s degree + 4 years successful management experience
• Active member in good standing in an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) congregation
• Experienced and knowledgeable about Human Resource issues
• Knowledgeable about issues, practices and procedures in providing programs to youth and adults who have special needs
• Demonstrates an understanding of ELCA theology
